I'm sure there's some parallel to be drawn here with Cervantes needing
to kill off Quixote to stop the imposters destroying the legacy...

But instead I'll just boggle at the concept of a windmill, tilted at
or otherwise, being anything like a maypole.

Hmmm. Yesterday was Beltane in the southern hemisphere ... do they use
maypoles there? And if they do, do they have to call them novemberpoles?
